In support of a vision to leverage innovation to create better places, spaces and services for our communities, below are updates and opportunities for partners and friends.

Events are back with a vengeance, and there's nothing like sitting in community to share solutions and fuse partnerships. With focus areas including smart strategies to utilize Federal funding, the power of regional approaches, broadband, and economic development, programs are accelerating across the country.   • DIA is Hiring! Are you passionate about Digital Inclusion, innovation and building something brand new? The Dallas Innovation Alliance is looking for a Program Manager to lead our digital inclusion projects, including the development of our new Digital Ambassador Program. Learn more here. The DIA Mobile Learning Lab team is also looking for a Site Guide to undertake a variety of onsite administrative and program management tasks for our onsite programs. To learn more and apply, click here

  • Smart Regions; Smart Communities: The North Texas Innovation Alliance and its members continue to drive research, collaboration and design of cross-jurisdictional Smart Cities initiatives. Creating 'readiness as a region' for federal investment, broadband, cybersecurity and resident engagement are on the list for this spring. The DIA Mobile Learning Lab is collaborating with the CARDboard Project to bring (EM)powerment Pops to MLK Library every Wednesday starting May 25th from 11am-1pm. (EM)Powerment Pop-ups bring high speed Wi-FI connectivity, laptops, and skilled staff to provide resources for residents free of cost. These Pop-ups have served to support everything from outdoor Wi-Fi access for school drives, virtual job fairs, COVID vaccine registration, registration for rental assistance and other benefits. DIA at Owl Fest! DIA and Cardboard Project will also be hosting an (EM)powerment Pop Up at Owl Fest on May 21st from 10:00am-2:00pm! Owl Fest Community Festival is a school and community-sponsored celebration and family resource fair held at R.C. Burleson Elementary School. It will bring health, dental, employment, youth and adult education, housing, insurance, safety, and legal resources to families, as well as fun activities and summer opportunities. Owl-Fest also features free food, games,and a large children's fun area.

Creating Colorful Gardens: The DIA in collaboration with The South Dallas Cultural Center, is hosting a family friendly free art workshop called Creating Colorful Gardens. Participants will learn about various life cycles and create unique pots and plant something to take home and watch grow. Join us on May 21st from 12-2pm to create colorful pieces to display in your garden, front yard, or even your kitchen counter! Parents are invited to participate with their kids. Smart Cities Week 2022! Smart Cities Week explores a new horizon with smart city policy-makers and practitioners. This year's Smart Cities Week is co-hosted by Smart Cities Council, Colorado Smart Cities Alliance, National Smart Coalitions Partnership and Wireless Association of America.
